Mundo Deportivo stated that the first Danish players in the history of Barça were Allan Simonsen (1979-82), Michael Laudrup (1989-94), Thomas Christiansen (1991-93) and Ronnie Ekelund (1992-94). With Allan Braithwaite following the queue, Christensen emerged as the sixth to wear Barca’s jersey.

Reportedly, the 26-year-old defender’s contract with Barcelona contains a buyout clause that amounts to €500,000 should any club desire to sign him before his contract elapses in Camp Nou.

Barcelona on its official website has described the defender as a winner with experience, who was born on April 10 in the town of Lillerod in Denmark.

The club added that Christensen is ‘strong and with great vision’ and a “powerful centre back who is excellent in the air. Technically proficient with the ball at his feet also, he is a perfect fit for the Blaugrana back four”.
