Chelsea vs Man U: FA warns Rooney against a future recurrence

The England FA has warned former Manchester United striker and Derby Country boss, Wayne Rooney against a future reoccurrence of the intentional act of inflicting an injury on a player.
Rooney deliberately wounded Chelsea’s captain John Terry in a clash between both teams in April 2016.
Rooney had on Sunday revealed that he changed his boot to long stud just to get his opponent wounded in the clash having known that Chelsea were in a better position and had a better chance to win the game.
In the aftermath of the revelation, the FA sought an observation with him where he was cautioned about repeating such action in the near future.

Rooney, who spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s clash with Peterborough, said: “I, obviously, gave my response to the FA, they’ve given me a warning and that’s it, the matter’s been put to bed so we can move on from that.
“It is what it is. It was obviously reported, and they’ve had to look into it. I got a warning. That’s it, it’s done, we move on. The matter’s closed and I’m pleased with that,” he added.
However, the former Red Devils’ player said that the challenge between him and Chelsea’s John Terry was proportionate.
