President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to commission at least seven projects in his Katsina home state, even as the state government has announced two work-free days for residents to welcome him.
According to a statement issued by the permanent secretary, ministry of information, Bala Kabomo, Buhari is expected to be in the state on Thursday and Friday, 26 and 27 January respectively.
The statement reads: “As part of the ongoing preparations to receive Mr President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR on a 2-day State visit to Katsina, the Katsina State Government has declared Thursday 26th and Friday 27th January 2023 at work-free day to enable all Workers of the State, local governments, Education Authorities, to welcome Mr President.
“However, the work-free day does not affect workers of Federal Service, banks, and those on essential services.

“Workers and the general public are therefore requested to come out en masse to give a rousing welcome to Mr President and members of his entourage as well as exhibit decorum, and traditional hospitality of the State on this auspicious visit.”
During the visit, Buhari is expected to commission seven projects that include two billion naira underpass projects at Kofan Kaura and Kofan Kwaya, and another overhead bridge at the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Katsina.
Other projects to be commissioned are, the new headquarters for the state internal revenue board, rehabilitated water board, Katsina; Darma rice processing company, and rehabilitated Katsina General Hospital.
