by Oviri Kelvin, Sports Editor, Abuja

Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles have been scheduled to play Libya in two-legged qualifying fixtures to join host Mozambique in the finals of the 2022 Beach Sand African Cup of Nation (AFCON).

The draws held in Maputo, Mozambique, and released on Friday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), saw fourteen African countries fixed to battle for 7 spaces in the Beach football continental tourney.

Following the draws to complete the eight-team AFCON event alongside Mozambique, Sand Eagles will travel to North Africa to confront Libya in the first leg of the qualifiers while Cote d’Ivoire host Morocco with defending champions Senegal locking horns with Cameroon.

CAF noted that the first match will take place next month from July 22 to 24 with Ghana and Seychelles hosting Egypt and Madagascar respectively.

According to the continental football governing body, ‘Nigeria will be eager to make their comeback to the fantastic tournament’ having missed the last edition.
