Kaduna Varsity asks students and lecturers to resume academic activities

Kaduna State University (KASU) has asked students and Lecturers to resume on the 9th of May, 2022 for academic activities The Trumpet gathered.

KASU in a circular dated April 26, and signed by its academic secretary, Abdullahi Zubairu, directed all students and lecturers of the institution to resume for the 2020/2021 academic year.

The circular also advised all the lecturers and students to abide by the academic calendar.

The Federal Government and ASUU have been in disagreement for some months and as of now, an agreement has not been reached.

The strike action embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended into two months with the Federal Government yet to grant the lecturer’s demands.

ASUU’s demands include the release of revitalisation funds for universities, renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, release of earned allowances for university lecturers, and deployment of the UTAS payment platform for the payment of salaries and allowances of university lecturers.

Last week, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the decision to suspend the industrial action embarked upon by ASUU could only be taken by the union.
