Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State, said bandits have become even more desperate than ever to kill and maim innocent people.
He said this Wednesday in a press release made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu.
The governor, who was paying tributes to the deceased soldiers that were killed during an attack by the bandits in the Takum council area of the state, also expressed worry about the fate of the Commanding officer of the Battalion who was declared missing after the operation.

The deceased soldiers of the 93 Battalion were said to have been ambushed by the bandits during a military operation in Tati village.
The Governor stressed that the attack on civilians and police officers in Takum, which prompted the reaction of the soldiers from the 93 Battalion, has proven that the bandits have become more desperate than ever to kill and maim innocent people.
The state government avowed that it will extend the much-desired olive branch to the soldiers and other security operatives to track down the bandits.
The Governor praised the gallantry of the soldiers led by the commanding officer of the battalion for reacting promptly to the distress calls by the people of the areas under the seizure of the bandits but regretted that the operation resulted in the unfortunate death of six military officers and uncertainty over the whereabouts of the commanding officer.
Commiserating with the military, the immediate and extended families of the deceased military officers, Ishaku urged Nigerians to also pray for the safe return of the Commanding Officer of the Battalion.
While praying to God to grant the souls of the deceased soldiers eternal rest, he beckoned on the people of the state not to hesitate to reach out to the security operatives with genuine information that could cripple the activities of the bandits in the entire nooks and crannies of the state.
