The Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has sent a condolence message to the government, people of Oyo State, and the indigenes of Iseyin town and Oke-Ogun in particular over the death of the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba AbdulGaniy Adekunle Salawudeen, who joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
In a press statement signed by his Director of Media & Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, on Monday, July 25, 2022, Ooni Ogunwusi described the Oyo State frontline king’s passage as an unimaginable shock and a surprise. He said Oba Salawudeen’s death is a colossal loss to the Oduduwa race.
Ooni Ogunwusi, Ojaja II stressed that he is yet to overcome the news of the death of Aseyin of Iseyin Kingdom.
The Ooni described the late Iseyin’s traditional ruler as an unforgettable close ally, who had strong beliefs in the unity of the Oodua people at home and abroad.
He added that the late Aseyin of Iseyin Kingdom was selfless in his contributions to my peace and unification agenda. The Ooni then recalled how the Aseyin made his entourage to several local and international peace and unity trips.

He stressed, “Kabiyesi Aseyin will be greatly missed as one of my close allies, who accompanied me on many local and international trips. Along with him and many other Yoruba Obas, we met with many Yoruba subjects in the UK, Ghana, USA & Brazil.
“The late Aseyin was indeed a peace-loving and easy-going Yoruba frontline progressive monarch, who devoted his reign to the progress of Iseyin Kingdom, Oke-Ogun and Oyo State at large. He was also a patriotic descendant of Oduduwa and a very dependable ally who worked closely with me. His strong commitment and dedication to Yoruba’s ethos and beliefs helped in no small measure to the peace and tranquillity we enjoy today in the entire Oduduwa race.”
While praying for the departed king and the family he left behind, Ooni Ogunwusi, who is the Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide enjoined the people and the kingmakers of the ancient town of Iseyin not to leave any stone unturned to give the late great king a befitting burial rites in total compliance with the customs and traditions inherited from their ancestors.
