Delta South Senatorial: Appeal Court affirms Sen. Onowakpo victory

The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has set aside the judgement of the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal and upheld the victory of Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas as the winner of the 25th February, 2023 Delta South Senatorial District election.

While delivering the ruling on behalf of the Panel, Justice Olubunmi Oyewole said the five issues Appeal filled by Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas was meritorious, noting that the earlier judgement given by the Tribunal is hereby set aside with a cost of ₦250,000 awarded against Michael Diden aka Ejele and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

By this judgement the earlier declaration of the Tribunal which ordered a rerun election in Warri South Local Government is now set aside.
