Police arrest Lebanese for crushing a lady in Lagos

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Lebanese for hitting a lady, Omotomi Akinsanya, as a result of driving recklessly against traffic along Sanusi Fafunwa road, Victoria Island in Lagos.
According to the account of an eyewitness, Gbadamosi Damilola, the Lebanese, John Greg was on high speed and driving against traffic, thereby forcing pedestrians to take to their heels. Damilola said it was at the process that the suspect ran into Akinsanya.
“The man was driving on a one-way, against traffic and on was on high speed around Sanusi Fafunwa Street, Victoria Island. People had to run helter-skelter for their lives. The driver then drove into Omotola and pushed her against the wall.

“The impact was so much that the plate number fell off. The driver did a hit and run, he absconded instead of waiting to care for the victim. A passer bye took a bike and chased after him. He was caught, brought back and handed over to the police,” Damilola stated.
The victim was said to be severely injured and in critical condition. She is currently taking treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the suspect is currently in custody and further investigation is ongoing.
Hundeyin further confirmed that the suspect sped off after hitting the victim, who has serious injuries on her leg but was chased and arrested. He added that the Lebanese Embassy has been duly informed of the incident.
He said, “On May 4, 2022, at about 0745hrs, a middle-aged Lebanese by name John Greg ‘m’ drove a Toyota 4Runner recklessly and against traffic on Sanusi Fafunwa Road thereby hitting one Omotomi Akinsanya ‘f’ which resulted in serious injuries to her leg.
“He speed off but was chased and arrested. Suspect is in our custody. Vehicle impounded and in our station. Victim undergoing treatment at LASUTH. Victim’s family duly informed. Embassy of Lebanon duly informed. Investigation ongoing.”
