The right-winger, hellbent on leaving Eredivisie to the Premier League to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, lamented he had requested to move since February.

Reports revealed that Manchester United tendered a bid of €90m to the Dutch league giants but have seen their offer rejected for failing to meet Ajax’s asking price.

According to reports, the Brazilian attempted to force his way out of the club by exhibiting truancy and avoiding training but never had any of his antics yielded fruitful results.

In an interview with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Antony stressed his desire to leave Johan Cruijff Arena with several clubs already lined up for his signature.

“Since February of this year, my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club to face a new challenge, and that some of the interested clubs would arrive and with them a great offer,” Antony told Romano.

“In June of this year, I interrupted my vacation and came personally to inform the managers of Ajax, including the new coach, about my wish to leave and that they should consider this possibility. Because when I started in Amsterdam, it was a project for two seasons.

“During the window months, meetings concluded, including a proposal from Ajax for a contract renewal. I made it clear once again – ‘I want to leave the club’,” the Brazilian continued.

“Today, in a meeting with the club’s board of directors, I expressed my old interest in leaving the club, only this time with a considerable offer on the table.

“Others had already arrived [but] Ajax always refused and hinders the argument with they only have to replace [me].

“I’m not asking [Ajax] to release me, I’m asking Ajax to sell me as the highest bid received by a player who plays in the Eredivisie in history.

“I’ve been insisting on this term since February so that the club could rebuild the team with peace of mind,” he added.

Meanwhile, Ajax rejected a second offer of £76m from the Red Devils for failing to meet their target price for Antony.

Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder confirmed the Brazilian has been axed from training with the first team as the Jews expect the player to remain at Johan Cruyff Arena.

Schreuder noted that he does not want to lose more players this season after Ryan Gravenberch moved to Bayern Munich, Sebastian Haller to Borussia Dortmund and Lisandro Martinez reunited with Ten Hag in Old Trafford.
