A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom, Hon Joseph Okon has said that the comments by the senate president senator Godswill Akpabio on former Governor Udom Emmanuel was made in bad faith.
Okon, a former Aide to Udom Emmanuel therefore appealed to Akpabio to allow the peace and tranquility enjoyed in the last eight years to continue under the present administration in the state.
Addressing a press conference in Uyo on Tuesday, urged the senate president to advise his media aides against inflammatory utterances that may heat up the polity of the state.
Governor Umo Eno had visited the senate president during his inauguration in Abuja where Akpabio advised him not to inherit enemies from his predecessor
According to him, ” The remarks made by the Senate President against Udom which was widely published was not done in good faith.
“The incumbent governor visited him out of love and Joy that an illustrious son of our state has emerged the third citizen of the country. ”
He said the visit was a great opportunity for Akwa ibom people to bury every political difference as the position seen to be a blessing to the state.
Okon lamented that the godly act of Eno was misunderstood as Senator Akpabio saw the visit to be an avenue to attack Udom.

” He( Akpabio) told the new governor that every effort he made to have audience with ex governor Emmanuel when he was a minister was rebuffed including his wife ( Martha ) who snubbed Akpabio’s wife when she came to submit a letter for a courtesy visit to the ex governor.”
He therefore debunked such insinuation adding that Akpabio’s remarks were lies meant to demonize former governor Udom Emmanuel .
” As an aide to the former Governor, I know from the benefit of hindsight that these are lies well known in the state as it was designed to demonize the immediate past governor Emmanuel.
” I believe that the Ministry of Delta Affairs has a proper channel of correspondence with States in the region.
“I don’t think any of the channels include sending the former First Lady to come in person to submit letters. How will the immediate past governor know that she is even coming in person to submit letters and directed that she be ignored, is he a spirit? ”
He argued that Udom has no enemy but those who supported him to install his successor pastor Umo Eno who he can not relegate to the background as suggested by the senate president.
