Governorship candidates across all political parties for the 2023 general elections in Akwa Ibom State will have the opportunity to meet with the state elders council under the aegis of pan Akwa Ibom Organisation.
In a statement signed by the interim Secretary of the Council, Chief Moses Essien and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Monday, the meeting will be in form of an interactive session with the candidates on January 4, 2023, at the Ibom e-library main auditorium as the first major activity of the apex council in the new year.
The Elders Council chaired by former Governor, Obong Victor Attah, is made up of all former Governors, their Deputies, former Ministers, Senators, Ambassadors, ex Secretaries to Government, Vice Chancellors, retired State Chief Judges and retired Judges of the State, Federal, Appellate and Supreme Courts.

The agenda for the meeting is unknown but a source confirmed that it may not be unconnected with the conduct of candidates of different political parties during their campaign and the need to embrace peace and decorum needed for the smooth conduct of the 2023 general election in the state.
