Chicago Cubs owners tender blockbuster bid for Chelsea

Chicago Cubs owners, Ricketts family, and Citadel billionaire, Ken Griffin have entered into a partnership to bid for Chelsea.

The bid, according to interested parties, is a blockbuster weighty enough to dislodge any rival bidders from the line of interests ready to end Russian Roman Abramovich’s 19-year reign.

Ken Griffin whose wealth is rated to be about $23billion by Forbes magazine has joined the Chicago Cubs owners, who are fans of the North London club, to signify their interest to buy over the club.

Reports by the British media revealed that the investment group formed by the both Ricketts family and Griffin will tender their bid officially on Friday, the last day for all bids.

Why some persons have viewed Chelsea’s future to be bleak over the inability of the prospective owner to match the Abramovich financial commitment to the club, others privy to information about the consortium reveal they have the capacity to record successes at Stamford Bridge The Trumpet gathered.

Meanwhile, a source close to the consortium described Chicago Cubs as the largest privately financed stadium restoration project in US history.

The source said, “Wrigley Field was transformed from terminal disrepair to a national treasure.”

More so, the partnership with Mr. Griffin, a successful business tycoon, and the chief executive officer of Citadel Asset Management, adds a lot of value to the bid due to his financial strength.

Furthermore, the source said, “the partnership bid is the most complete bid on the table; no one else has had the on-field success the Ricketts Family have had with the Cubs, combined with successfully completing a massive renovation of a historic stadium”.

However, the Cub owners noted that as long-time professional operators of a sports team, they know what it means to record success on the pitch.

The Ricketts family said, “As long-time operators of an iconic professional sports team, the Ricketts Family and their partners understand the importance of investing for success on the pitch while respecting the traditions of the club, the fans, and the community.

“We look forward to sharing further details of our plans in due course.”

According to the available record, the last six years are the most successful in the Cubs’ history, winning the World Series and completing a $1bn renovation of the team’s home, Wrigley Field.

The Wrigley Field built-in 1914, is one of the USA’s historic sports arenas.
