Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the closure of  Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Aka Offot in Uyo metropolis as a  student identified as Samuel Archibong allegedly stabbed an SS2 student known as James Elijah to death.

A source told The Trumpet on Saturday, that the suspect; a former student of the college earlier suspended for cult-related matters, emerged on the fateful day to wreak havoc in the school.

He explained that there was a skirmish between the suspect and the victim immediately they arrived at the school premises and in the process, Archibong reportedly pulled out a knife from his pocket, stabbed his victim to death and bolted away.

“He ran away after stabbing James to death. Those angry students would have killed him if they had met him at home. They must have gone to his father’s house to revenge their colleague’s death,” he said

However, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, while condemning the incident, ordered that the school be shut to enable the State Secondary Education Board and the Ministry of Education wade into the matter and restore peace.

“We advise parents to ensure their wards remain indoor until the ministry and the school wade into the matter to restore normalcy,” Etiebet said.
