Drunken driver crushed motorcycle rider to death in Lagos

A driver believed to have gotten drunk cruising on a sienna model car had crushed a motorcycle rider to death this morning at Abule Egba area of Lagos state.

The driver of the sienna car simply identify as Kola has been detained alongside his car at the oke-odo police station near the popular ile-epo market. The late motorcycle rider Mr Osas who hails from Esan local government area of Edo State died instantly after the car which was running one way hit his motorbike and in the process injured two of the passenger.

Families of the late motorcycle riders were at the Police station this morning trying to get the necessary police report required at the hospital where the body of their brother is deposited to enable them give him final burial while discussion continues on what to do with the driver that killed their brother. Mr Osas died at the prime age of 42 leaving behind a wife and three children.

A family member told our correspondent that delegates have been sent to the Community Development Association (CDA) Ayobo where the late motorcycle rider build a house to enable them to do the proper burial in his house.
A similar accident occurred two weeks after a commercial bus trying to evade arrest by men of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) crushed three women working as road sweepers under the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) at the same Abule Egba road.

The accident resulted in protest by members of the National Union Road Transport Workers (NURTW) forcing all commercial buses to stop work that day.
