Harry Kane’s superb performance against Manchester City in the Saturday clash has helped revive the hopes of the North London club for the next season’s Champions League tournament.

The Tottenham striker, who was on top form when it mattered most for a club that had lost their last three Premier League outings, scored a brace to defeat Manchester City at Etihad stadium.

The highly competitive game ended in a 2-3 win against City. City’s manager, Pep Guardiola during his pre-match interview revealed he tried signing Harry Kane from Tottenham.

After the three consecutive defeats to Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Southampton, Tottenham needed to spark up a winning way to rekindle their campaign for Champions League football next season.

Furthermore, Kane’s performance has earned him a lot of admiration from soccer pundits who commended the clinical finishing of the striker, affirming that it is one of the all-time season’s best performances.

In his analysis, one of the pundits and former England striker, Alan Shearer, said, “That’s one of the best all-round centre-forward performances I’ve seen all season, anywhere.

“Intelligence, aggression, goals, assists, he was just far, far too good for City’s centre-halves Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias – and it is not very often we say that. He was just too clever for them.

“Part of Tottenham’s game plan was to keep finding Kane with short passes because none of the City defenders wanted to drop in with him.

“Spurs kept on getting runners forward to feed off Kane and get in behind. His first-time pass to release Son Heung-min for their first goal was absolutely sensational.

“It was just incredible to watch. Everything he did was magnificent, including his winner. Say what you want about the defending, and it was rubbish, there was only ever going to be one guy getting on the end of that cross and it wasn’t Kyle Walker,” he added.

Tottenham who are presently in the seventh position on the league table with 39 points from 23 games have two standing games to compete with Manchester United who are in the fourth position with 43 points from 25 games.
