There seems to be no end to the dust being raised in Taraba state by the just-concluded admission into Nigerian Police Academy.
The Trumpet gathered that Various groups have expressed displeasure over the admission list of the state which was recently released by the police authorities. They alleged that it favours just a particular religion.
Among such groups, is the Concern Christian Youth (CCY) Taraba State Chapter, who on Saturday in a press statement made available to media practitioners in Jalingo, frowned at the way and manner Christians were allegedly relegated to the background in the admission exercise.
Signed by its state chairman, Rev.(Dr.) AllahKyauta Adi, the group noted that “Our attention has been drawn to the list of admission released by the Nigerian Police Academy in which ten candidates were selected from each State of the Federation.”

“In the Taraba list out of the ten names, only three were Christian while the remaining seven were Muslim.”
Arguing that the records are there in public domain, the group in their statement, described the list of Taraba state as being lopsided.
They said the list was only favourable to Muslim applicants despite the fact that hundreds of Christians applied. They urged the federal government and the Police Service Commission to as a matter of urgency wade in by righting the wrongs.
“Taraba state is a Christian-dominated state, and sidelining them in the admission process into the Police Academy is a calculated plan to give the Muslims the platform of reaching the peak of Police career in the nearest future.”
While rejecting the list, they beckoned at the authority of the Nigerian Police Academy to as a matter of urgency revisit Taraba list and do the needful.
