The Borno state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed sadness at the recent attack carried out by members of the Boko Haram sect in the state.
The attacks which occurred in a mosque on Sunday in Gulde village of Askira Uba local government council of the state led to the deaths of no fewer than four worshippers among which was an Imam.
In a statement made available to media practitioners by the party through its spokesperson, Amos Adziba urged the authorities to ensure that persons responsible for such heinous acts are as a matter of urgency brought to book.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the continued and widespread violence inflicted by Boko Haram on innocent men, women, and children in Nigeria.”
The latest attacks, they said serve as a reminder that despite progress on the battlefield, Boko Haram remains capable of deadly and destabilizing acts of terrorism.

While commending the efforts by the Nigerian military, as well as the militaries of Chad, Niger, and Cameroon for the gains they have made fighting Boko Haram, they call on Presidential Mohammadu Buhari, to put in more efforts to end the activities of insurgents on the country, especially in Borno state.
They said “We encourage the Muhammadu Buhari APC led administration to take steps to secure and bring an end to our predicaments.”
The attacks which occurred on Sunday were observed to have further heightened tensions not only in the local government council but in the state at large.
Some of the council where the attack took place told The Trumpet, that they are no longer at ease as their dreams of going to bed with their two eyes tenaciously closed have again been frustrated by the Boko Haram penetration of the council.
They however beckoned at the government to strengthen the security apparatus of the council in order to halt further recurrence of such acts.
