Chelsea and Leicester City have concluded plans to allow Wesley Fofana to join Thomas Tuchel in Stamford Bridge after both clubs reached an agreement on Friday.
Preceding the agreement, Chelsea had several bids for the defender outright rejected by Foxes who were reluctant to accept any offer below Harry Maguire’s value to Manchester United in 2019.
With Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger already signed for Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively in the summer, the Blues scoured the transfer market in search of formidable replacements in which Kalidou Koulibaly was snapped from Napoli.
Tuchel, despite the inclusion of Koulibaly and Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella in the summer, is eager to strengthen the Blues’ defence further.

However, should the decision to allow Fofana to join Chelsea have been Brenda Rogers’ call, the defender would never have left Kings Power Stadium.
Leicester boss Rogers was against the move to the extent he axed Fofana from the first team squad over the 21-year-old refusal to train with the team, intending to force his way out.
However, the Blues and Foxes have come to terms, with the Frenchman handed the opportunity to explore a new challenge.
According to reports, Chelsea would pay an initial £70m with £10m for add-ons. Recall that Manchester United 2019 signed Harry Maguire for about £80m from Leicester.
The French U23 international enjoyed a spectacular debut campaign in England last two seasons ago but suffered a fractured leg for about a year that limited his appearances in the 2021-2022 season.
