Shooting Stars unveils Ogunbote

Shooting Stars of Ibadan have unveiled coach Gbenga Ogunbote as the new coach of the club after coach Edith Agoye resigned to further a coaching course in the United Kingdom.

Gbenga Ogunbote on Monday, was unveiled by the management of Oluwole Warriors to reaffirm the club’s vision for 2022-2023 season.

Recall that last season, Shooting Stars narrowly escaped being relegated to the Nigeria National League (NNL) after finishing 16th on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table. Although the club tallied with Katsina United on 58 points, they leveraged on goal differences.

However, the club are determined to redefine their focus with a target to finish in the qualifying spot for a continental tourney next season and believe that Ogunbote, the former Remo Stars gaffer who qualified Sky Blue Stars for the CAF Confederations Cup after finishing on third place, can do the magic.

Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars have secured the services of Edith Agoye after he parted ways with Shooting Stars at the close of the NPFL season.

Although upon his resignation last week, the Oluyole Warriors said he was slated to attend a coaching course abroad.

However, with the news making the rounds that the coach who piloted Shooting Stars out of relegation zone in the concluded NPFL season has signed for Owena Waves, shows he is ready to dish out his coaching expertise in the 2022-23 season.

Sunshine Stars finished 11th on the NPFL log last season after narrowly escaping relegation in the 2019-2020 season.

Recall that last season, Sunshine Stars were left midway by coach Deji Ayeni to join Akwa United and the management of the club named Cameroonian Emmanuel Deutsch who took over until the end of the season.
