IFK Göteborg have signed Union Berlin’s Suleiman Abdullahi on a free transfer to the Swedish topflight The Trumpet reliably gathered.
Abdullahi, who joined Union Berlin three seasons ago from Eintracht Braunschweig after completing a season-long loan move in 2019 with Die Eisernen, scored the opener in the 2-2 first-leg playoff against VfB Stuttgart where the club finally secured promotion to the Bundesliga.
The striker’s last season’s performance was threatened by injury in Eintracht Braunschweig where he had returned for a season-long loan move to the Bundesliga second-tier to manage 2 goals from six appearances.

Despite the shortfall in performance last season, the former Viking FK versatile striker, who can play as a centre-forward and also from the attacking right and left wings, attracted interest from Mikael Stahre’s side to sign him to Allsvenskan.
In a statement by the IFK Göteborg to announce the signing of Abdullahi, they disclosed that the 25-year-old Nigerian striker signed a three-year deal.
“We have completed a new acquisition that spearheads the squad. The 25-year-old Nigerian striker Suleiman Abdullahi is on a free transfer from the Bundesliga club Union Berlin,” IFK Göteborg confirmed.
Abdullahi, who will officially join his new club on July 1, will be expected to kickstart a new campaign in Sweden’s Allsvenskan on July 4th when IFK Göteborg take on Degerfors in the 2022-23 fixtures.
