Qatar bans extramarital sex, partying in FIFA World Cup

Qatar government have banned extramarital sex between two unmarried people in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, stating that culprits risk seven years of jail terms.

The predominantly Moslem country host the 2022 edition of the football global event where fans and players from different backgrounds will attend but the government stressed that its laws must be strictly obeyed.

In a statement by the Qatari Supreme Committee, the country denounces public display of affectionate affairs notwithstanding the context of the sexual relationship. The Trumpet Gathered

“Qatar is a conservative country and public displays of affection are frowned upon regardless of sexual orientation,” Qatar’s Supreme Committee said.

Confirming the statement made by the Qatari Supreme Committee, a Police source who spoke to Daily Star, stressed that extramarital sex is highly prohibited except in the instance of husband and wife affairs.

According to him, there will be no room for partying or any avenue for a one-night stand.

“Sex is very much off the menu unless you are coming as a husband and wife team,” the source told Daily Star.

“There will be no one-night stands at this tournament. There will be no partying at all,” he added.

He, however, advised everyone to be disciplined to avoid risking a jail term.

“Everyone needs to keep their heads about them unless they want to risk being stuck in prison,” said the source.

Furthermore, the source noted that this is the first of its kind that such activities will be banned in a World Cup, reiterating that fans need to adjust to constraints before time.

“There is essentially a sex ban in place at this year’s World Cup for the first time ever. Fans need to be prepared,” the Police source stated.

Meanwhile, this is the first time a FIFA World Cup event is being hosted in an Arab State of the Persian Gulf which has a clear distinction in cultural values.
