Man convicted for employment scam in Sokoto

One Abdullahi Paiko Aliyu , who claimed to be a staffer of the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation, has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for employment scam by Justice Mohammed Mohammed of the Sokoto State High Court.

Aliyu has been under trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a two count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretences of over N14 million

When the charge was ready to him, Aliyu pleased guilty. He was, therefore, convicted and sentenced.

Justice Mohammed also ordered the convicted to make full restitution of the said amount N14,300,000 to victims of the crime through the EFCC.

Before he met his waterloo, the convict had defrauded unsuspecting members of the public under the guise of securing them employments in Federal Agencies, including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), National Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency, (NIMASA), and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
