Attorney General lauds NAPTIP for securing 500 conviction

Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaiah Bozimo has commended the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in charge of Edo/Delta state for the successful prosecution and conviction of 500 traffickers since 2003.
The Attorney General gave the commendation in Asaba when officials of the NAPTIP, led by the zonal commander Nduka Nwawenne , paid him a courtesy visit. The Attorney General informed the zonal commander that an anti-human trafficking bill was being prepared by his office. He informed the NAPTIP team that a committee set up to investigate internet fraud had submitted its report to the government.
Bozimo noted that prostitution, ritual killings, and human trafficking were closely related and expressed optimism that the bill would receive speedy passage in the house of the assembly when it is presented.

He commended the zonal commander for the conviction of 500 traffickers and urged him to continue in the same spirit to cub the menace of human trafficking, The Trumpet gathered.
He promised to provide whatever assistance that is needed by the agency to discharge duties. The leader of the delegation, Comrade, Nduka Nwawenne expressed the need for all States of the federation to have a task force on anti-human trafficking.
He explained that 20 states of the federation already had the task force to complement the efforts of NAPTIP in cubing human trafficking . He called for the enforcement of the law to cub human trafficking in Delta State.
He explained that internal trafficking was as serious as international and that serious attention should be given to it.
