
The Delta State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it has deployed 2,418 personnel to maintain peace before during and after the Easter celebrations.
Spokesperson of the state Command, Mr. Emeka Peters, who disclosed this in Asaba, said the deployment was part of the NSCDC’s mandate in the protection of lives and properties as well as its readiness to continue to secure the state.
He said the 2,418 personnel deployed are to provide watertight security coverage all through the celebration period, adding that it was not ready to take the existing peace in the state for granted The Trumpet gathered.
He disclosed that the State Commandant, Akinsanya I. A. gave approval for the deployment, adding that the officers were drafted from the Tactical Squad, the Anti-Vandal Unit, the Agro-Rangers, Counter Terrorism Unit CTU, the Rapid Respond Unit, Operations Dept, the Snipper Combatant (Female Squad) and the Department of Intelligence and Investigation (DII).

He pointed out that stern directives had been given to all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Component Commanders and Squadron Leaders to supervise and monitor the deployed officers to operate within the extant laws and discharge their duty with professionalism in line with international best practices.
He urged all Deltans to go about their legitimate business without fear of molestation, advising the public to always report any individual or group that looks suspicious, just as he promised not to disclose the identity of any informant.
