Police kill alleged kidnapper, rescue13 passengers

Delta State Police Command has rescued 13 passengers from the kidnappers who hijacked a 14-seater bus along Aniagala Community, via Ubulu-uku Express Road in Aniocha South LGA.

A statement signed by DSP. Bright Edafe, the State Police Command Spokesperson, says the incident happened around 8:00a.m.

16 passengers were kidnapped and taken into the bush.

Upon the instructions of the state Police Boss, CP. Ari Muhammed Ali, the DPO Ogwashi-Uku Division, to lead men into the bush and ensure that the victims are rescued unhurt and also arrest the suspects.

The statement stated further that the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Mohammed Naallah, swiftly led a combined team of police operatives and vigilantes into the bush and gave the hoodlums a hot chase, which led to exchange of gun fire.

One of the suspects was hit and died on the spot, while the other members of the gang escaped with bullet injuries, The Trumpet gathered.

All 13 kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt and one AK-47 rifle was recovered.

The bush is still being combed, with a view to arresting the other fleeing members of the gang.
