45 years old man nabbed for sodomy in Adamawa

The Adamawa state police command has again apprehended a 45 year old man who was alleged to have defied a ten years old boy.

The suspect, Kawu Sale, who resides in Tsohon Tike community, in Mayo Belwa local government Council of the state, was said to have been arrested last Thursday for sodomy on the minor.

Confirming the arrest via a statement yesterday made available to media practitioners in Yola, the state capital by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Suleiman Nguroje, the suspect “who is a neighbour of the victim” was alleged to lure the victim into his room and forcefully defiled him.

It was also stated that the suspect had attempted to commit suicide on his arrest but was prevented from embarking on such a mission.

At the time of filing this report, The Trumpet learnt that he (the suspect) is currently receiving medical attention in an undisclosed clinic in Yola, the administrative headquarters of the state.

According to the statement “the suspect was reported to the Divisional Police headquarters in Mayo-Belwa by the father, alongside other members of the community.”

Preliminary investigation” as stated by the police command “so far revealed that on the same date at about 11.00hrs, the victim was sighted running out of the room of the suspect.”

Adding that “upon inquiries, the victim narrated what the suspect had done to him” the situation, according to the command, led to the immediate arrest of the suspect who attempted to commit suicide but for the swift intervention of the police.

“Angered by what the accused did, the neighbours” as clearly stated by the police statement ” immediately headed for the suspect’s room” adding that “but when he saw the mob coming towards his room, he attempted killing himself by stabbing himself severely in the neck and stomach. ”

The Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, was said to have directed detectives from the state CID to as a matter of urgency take over the investigation of the act and ensure the immediate prosecution of the suspect.

Applauding the efforts of the father of the victim and the neighbours who according to him did not take the laws into their hands but went ahead to draw the attention of the police to the suspect ill, the command beckoned at the public to borrow leaves from such acts.

The command also beckoned at the people especially those with relevant information about hoodlums to always reached out to the command.
