28 Kebbi students on govt scholarships to Egypt

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state has again approved the sponsorship of 28 students of Kebbi State origin for medical Studies.

The beneficiary’s students, as gathered by The Trumpet, are scheduled to depart Nigeria for Egypt with immediate effect.

The gesture, as observed by our state correspondent, is coming barely few days after the governor approved over N3 billion for the payment of outstanding gratuities to retire public servants in the state.

The news of the approval of the sponsorship of the medical students was yesterday disclosed to media practitioners by the acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Higher Education, Alhaji Abdulmuminu Abdullahi Argungu in Birnin kebbi, the state capital.

He applauded the governor immensely for providing the necessary moral and material support to the people of the State to excel in all fields of educational pursuit.

Elated by the development, the Executive Secretary, Kebbi State Scholarship Board, Malam Sanusi Garba explained that the twenty eight students would depart Birnin Kebbi on the 22nd of this month to Abuja on transit to Cairo, Egypt.

The students, as also gathered by The Trumpet, would undergo studies in seven Universities approved by the state government.

Some of the beneficiary students who bared their minds to our correspondent promised to take advantage of the opportunity given to them by the state government.
