Two chieftains of the ailing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State have joined the bandwagon of defectors from the party.
The latest defectors are former state chairman of APC, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya and the Publicity Secretary of the party, Warisenibo Chris Finebone.
The duo are kinsmen of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Warisenibo Siminalayi Fubara in Opobo Nkoro Local Government Area.
They visited the state governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at his private residence in Port Harcourt Thursday evening where they met behind closed doors.
However, it was gathered that the two former arch rivals of PDP pledged to work to ensure that their ‘brother’ wins the governorship election which according to them would help to change the landscape of Opobo and Rivers State in general.
It was learnt that they also used the occasion of the visit to extract a commitment from the governor towards doing the Opobo Ring Road.

“It was God that has made your son to be the governorship candidate of our party. The same God will make him win to His glory. I did not plan it, but God did it. Opobo people should be thanking God for His mercies”, Gov. Wike was quoted to have said during the private meeting.
The last outing of Finebone for the APC was the press conference he addressed in reaction to the gale of defections in the party. He had during the press conference blamed the woes of the APC in the state on Gov.
Wike and Senator Magnus Abe whom he said had been working in cahoots to destroy the opposition party in the state.
There is no doubt that the exit of Finebone in particular would rob the APC of the yeoman’s job he was doing for the party as spokesman with a gift of the garb.
