NAFDAC shuts 39 illegal water factories in 5 months in Ogun
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut 39 illegal water factories in Ogun State over the past five months.

The illegal factories were shut between February and June, disclosed the Ogun State Coordinator, Mr. Mawo Benu, during an interview in Ota.

Mr. Benu said that during the period, NAFDAC inspected a total of 43 water production facilities, and out of these, 39 were found to be operating in an unsafe environment and not following proper health and safety practices.

He emphasized that NAFDAC is serious about preventing the production of unsafe and unregistered products.

“There is no space for businesses that don’t follow the rules,” he said.

Benu also asked for public support in reporting any suspicious water production sites to help protect people’s health.

He noted that even some registered businesses were found lacking in cleanliness and didn’t meet the standards they were supposed to uphold.

Some of the key issues identified include businesses operating with expired licenses, creating unauthorized bottle sizes, moving operations to unapproved locations, and using fake registration numbers.
