The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of a murder suspect in Abule Egba area of the State linked to the death of a 65-year-old man.
According to the Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundyin in a statement issued on Sunday night, the homicide was first reported on March 29, 2025, at the Oko-Oba Police Division after the body of an unidentified man was discovered in a service apartment.
He explained that investigations revealed that on March 27, 2025, around 5:20 p.m., the deceased checked into the apartment accompanied by a woman, who later fled the scene with his car and personal belongings, telling the housekeeper she would return shortly.
“The following day, during a routine check, the body of the victim was found. Police recovered an empty syringe, two cans of malt drink, and two bottles of water at the scene. The body was later moved to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) mortuary for autopsy, while a manhunt for the female suspect began.”

According to the statement, in a major breakthrough, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) arrested the suspect, identified as Adeola Adewale, 35, at Oko-Oba, Lagos, around 9:30 p.m. on April 26, 2025.
During interrogation, Adewale reportedly confessed to lacing a malt drink with poison, which the deceased, later identified as Mr. Adebayo, consumed, resulting in his death.
“The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue to uncover further details surrounding the incident. The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that updates will be provided as the case progresses.
“Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, emphasized the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Lagos residents. He warned that all individuals involved in criminal activities would be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice,” he said.
