Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye is having a good time in his club and English Championship side, Watford, in their pre-season tour as they work to kickstart a return to the England top-tier division in August.
Okoye signed for Watford from Sparta Rotterdam during last season’s winter transfer window but returned on loan to Het Kasteel to complete the remaining part of 2021-2022 season in Eredivisie, the Dutch topflight league.
The 22-year-old goalie, who was handed his first international cap by the former Super Eagles’ German gaffer, Gernot Rohr on October 9, 2019 in a friendly match against Ukraine that ended 2-2, has earned a total 16 caps for the national side. The Trumpet Gathered
In an interview with the Watford TV during a training session, Okoye said the game was tough in the first-half but noted that the Hornets found a way out in the second-half.

“I think it was quite difficult in the beginning and is understandable because we just came together and that’s a new thing for us. But yeah, I think we will find our way and you could see in the second half we did way better and that is progress,” Okoye told Watford TV.
The Super Eagle added that he is relishing his time with the Hornets, stressing that his teammates are fantastic.
He said, “Yeah, fantastic. Having a great time with my already funny guys, funny teammates, good vibe in here. And I think that’s important. feeling connected to the players and to the staff.
“I had a good time there [Austria]. We worked very hard. But we had fun with a smile on our face and I think we made good steps in the right direction in Austria. And now we’re just out here continuing with the with the work,” Okoye added.
The Hornets open their 2022-23 English Championship campaign with Sheffield United on August 1 at Vicarage Road with coach Roy Hodgson eyeing a quick return to the English top-tier division.
