LG Boss boosts Delta’s Agro-Economy with Cassava Grinding Machines for local communities
In a move to strengthen Delta State‘s agro-economy, Dr. Lucky Avweromre, Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area, recently donated cassava grinding machines to three key communities: Ewu, Okparabe, and Arhavwarien. This initiative, part of Avweromre’s 100-day milestone in office, fulfills a campaign promise to enhance agricultural productivity for rural communities.

The donation includes a total of seven cassava grinding machines, with five going to Ewu, while Okparabe and Arhavwarien received one each. During the handover ceremony, Dr. Avweromre expressed his commitment to supporting grassroots development and ensuring each community in Ughelli South benefits from targeted projects under his administration.

“This gesture goes beyond what was originally requested, showing our dedication to agricultural progress in Ughelli South,” Dr. Avweromre stated. He also challenged the beneficiaries to maintain the machines, emphasizing that his administration aims to complete at least one impactful project in every community.

Dr. Avweromre thanked Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for providing the “enabling environment to serve” and expressed confidence that this contribution will help uplift the local economy and empower residents through agriculture.

Representatives from each community, including Hon. Women leaders, Mrs. Ikuku Oghenemine, Mrs. Felicia Oyovwiakedia, and Mrs. Victoria, also praised the chairman, promising to put the machines to productive use.

Key officials present at the ceremony included Deputy Leader of Ughelli South Legislative Arm, Hon. Andrew Eti, Hon. Joy Akoyere, and Chief John Ewenede, Secretary to Ughelli South Local Government. Mrs. Doris Edema, representing the Council’s Head of Personnel Management, also joined in support of the event.
