Kano PDP rallies for new members, rejects coalition talks, defections
The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on residents to register and join the party, describing the PDP as the most credible platform for the future of both Kano State and Nigeria. The appeal came on Thursday during a press conference held by the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Yusuf Ado.

Addressing journalists, Hon. Ado emphasized that the PDP remains focused on delivering good governance and addressing the pressing needs of its constituents. He reiterated the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilization and unity, while distancing the PDP from recent defections to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Hon. Ado, a former commissioner under the Kwankwaso administration, described the defectors as insignificant and accused them of betraying the party that once empowered them. He maintained that the PDP in Kano remains strong, united, and committed to its founding principles.

“We have completed the mobilization and repositioning of our members to ensure full alignment with the party’s goals. This is key to strengthening our grassroots base and operational capacity,” he said.

The party chairman assured the PDP national leadership of the Kano chapter’s loyalty and readiness to support all party directives, adding that the chapter has no intention of forming any coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. He firmly stated that the party remains in the PDP and will not compromise its stance or align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting to questions about party structure, Hon. Ado clarified that there is no revalidation exercise underway, contrary to claims by defectors. He affirmed that all executive members remain intact and actively engaged in steering the affairs of the party across all levels.
