As votes continued to be counted in a tightly contested U.S. presidential race, Kamala Harris campaign announced that the Democratic candidate and current Vice President would not address supporters on election night.

“We still have votes to count. We still have states that have not been called yet,” said Harris campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond in an early Wednesday statement. “We will continue to fight overnight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken. So you won’t hear from the vice president tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow.”

On Tuesday, Harris spent the day with her family at her Washington, D.C., residence before joining an election watch event at her alma mater, Howard University, the historically Black college she attended.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump appeared to be edging closer to victory over Harris with U.S. broadcasters calling critical battleground states North Carolina and Georgia for the Republican candidate, marking a potential path to the White House.
