Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has strongly denied speculations suggesting he is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Odii’s response follows recent public remarks attributed to Mr. Stanley Okoro Emegha, Chairman of the APC in Ebonyi State, implying that the PDP chieftain might be considering a move to join the ruling party.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Chief Odii firmly debunked the claim, insisting there is no ideological, political, or developmental justification that could prompt him to consider such a decision. According to him, his political loyalty remains with the PDP, and he remains committed to the party’s mission and values.

“Let me categorically state that I am not considering joining the APC, now or in the foreseeable future. I have yet to see any compelling reason that would warrant such a move,” Odii stated. He emphasized that his political philosophy is rooted in purposeful leadership, people-oriented governance, and genuine democratic advancement, not in political opportunism or convenience.

Chief Odii called on political leaders to avoid spreading speculative or misleading statements, particularly those that could distort the political climate in Ebonyi State. While acknowledging Mr. Emegha’s right to promote his party, Odii urged stakeholders to prioritize integrity and truthfulness in public discourse.

He reaffirmed his dedication to the growth and progress of Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large, stressing that he will continue to contribute meaningfully through platforms that reflect the will and welfare of the people.

Odii also expressed gratitude to his supporters across Ebonyi State and beyond, thanking them for their unwavering trust and encouragement.
