Governor Uzodimma backs Tinubu’s State of Emergency in Rivers, applauds swift action

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has thrown his full support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State, calling it a crucial step toward restoring stability in the oil-rich region.

In a press release, Uzodimma praised the President’s swift intervention and commended the National Assembly for backing the move without delay. According to him, the proactive approach demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding democracy, ensuring security, and maintaining order in Rivers State.

“In light of recent developments in Rivers State, I commend His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his decisive leadership in declaring a state of emergency to forestall further escalations. This proactive measure reflects a deep commitment to the stability, security, and well-being of the good people of Rivers State and, by extension, Nigeria,” Uzodimma stated.

He also hailed the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, describing it as a strategic decision that would pave the way for lasting peace. “As stakeholders in Nigeria’s democratic stability, my colleagues and I fully support Mr. President’s timely intervention. The Progressive Governors’ Forum remains committed to providing any necessary assistance to ensure that peace, order, and progress are restored in Rivers State,” Uzodimma affirmed.
