Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved the provision of 54 patrol vehicles and motorcycles to support military operations in New Marte, in the northern part of the state affected by insurgency.
The governor announced the approval during a visit to New Marte, where he assessed the security situation and made preparations for the resettlement of displaced communities.
The approved vehicles include four Toyota Buffalo pick-up trucks, 50 operational motorcycles, and surveillance equipment to enhance military mobility and intelligence-gathering efforts.
Commending the military for their unwavering commitment to restoring peace in the state, Gov. Zulum praised the troops for their sacrifices and dedication, which he said have contributed significantly to the return of normalcy to areas ravaged by insurgency.
Meanwhile, on his way back from Marte, the governor made a stop in Dikwa, to inspect the ongoing construction of key infrastructure, including the high Islamic college, the general hospital, and semi-permanent shelters for displaced persons returning to their communities.
Gov. Zulum was accompanied on the visit by key officials, including members of the state House of Assembly representing Marte and Kukawa, commissioners for information and internal security, local government and emirates affairs, and other senior government officials.
