Gov. Yusuf orders probe into commissioner’s alleged involvement in drug Baron’s bail

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the alleged involvement of the Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, in the controversial bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Dan-Wawu.

The directive follows widespread public outrage after reports emerged that the commissioner’s name appeared in the official documents facilitating the suspect’s release.

A statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, to address the matter, said the governor has set up a seven-member special investigative committee to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and recommend appropriate actions with immediate effect.

The statement said that the committee would be chaired by Aminu Hussain, the governor’s Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters.

Other members are Hamza Haladu, Hamza Dantani, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar, Maj. Gen. Sani Muhammad (rtd.), Comrade Kabiru Dakata and Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota to serve as secretary.

While announcing the formation of the committee, Gov. Yusuf expressed serious concern over the alleged misconduct, reaffirming his administration’s commitment on the fight against drug abuse and any form of social vices in the state.
