Gov. Yahaya urges prayers, unity, generosity as Ramadan begins
As Muslims around the world begin the holy month of Ramadan, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), has called for sustained prayers, unity, and acts of generosity among Muslims.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the governor urged the Muslim community to embrace the core values of Ramadan, including empathy, love, sacrifice, and forgiveness.

He emphasized the need to promote peace, and kindness, while encouraging those who are well-off to extend support to the less privileged.

Gov. Yahaya also called on the people of the state to remain law-abiding, and uphold the spirit of peaceful coexistence, which he described as essential for progress and stability.

He highlighted the Ramadan as an opportunity for spiritual renewal, through worship and supplication, urging believers to use this period to pray fervently for peace, development, and prosperity in both the state and the nation.

Expressing confidence in the power of prayers, patriotism, and collective commitment, the governor assured that Nigeria would overcome its current challenges.

He commended President Bola Tinubu, and fellow governors for their efforts in addressing security, and socio-economic issues across the country.

Gov. Yahaya further urged citizens to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and report any suspicious activities to help maintain peace and security.

He also called on Islamic scholars to use their Tafsir sessions, and teachings to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, and piety throughout Ramadan and beyond.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the well-being of Gombe residents, the governor assured that efforts to sustain peace and security in the state would continue.

As part of measures to support residents during the fasting period, he noted that his government had already set up and inaugurated the 2025 Ramadan Palliative Committee to ensure the swift distribution of relief materials to those in need.
