Gov. Yahaya reconstitutes membership of board, commissions

Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the reconstitution of several key commissions and boards in the state, naming new chairpersons and members in a move aimed at strengthening institutions and promoting good governance.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, announced the appointments on Wednesday, saying that they take immediate effect.

The newly constituted Gombe State Civil Service Commission has Mrs. Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta as chairman, with Mr. Masoyi Sajo, Adamu Musa, Garba Muhammed Bajoga, and Adamu Bello appointed as permanent commissioners.

Gov. Yahaya also reconstituted the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission, which oversees local government elections.

The new leadership includes Alhaji Abdullahi Talasse as chairman. Others appointed as permanent commissioners are Maisamari Kushi, Abubakar Kumo, Ahmed Abubakar, Ado Umar, Yusuf Baji, Abubakar Kunuwal, and Mohammed Muhammad.

To enhance the state’s education sector, the following people were appointed to the Gombe State Teachers’ Service Commission, Musa Hinna, Mohammed Abdullahi, and Aminu Musa as permanent members, while Hamid Mohammed, Bashir Dukku, and Mr. Sunday Zailani were named as part-time members.

In a bid to also reposition the state-owned media outfit, Abdullahi Jalo has been appointed as the chairman of the Gombe State Media Corporation, while Ibrahim Isa will serve as director-general and member of the board.

Other members include Adam Musa, Nasiru El-Hikaya, Abdulbasid Inuwa, Mrs. Habiba Jonathan, Ibrahim Kuri, Umar Shamaki, Miss Tabitha Iliya, Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, Salisu Nagodi, as well as representatives from the ministries of finance and information.
The corporation’s legal adviser will serve as secretary.

Also, Babangida Hammani has been appointed as a replacement board member at the Gombe State College of Nursing and Midwifery.

Gov. Yahaya urged all newly appointed officials to uphold public trust and serve with diligence, integrity, and a commitment to the development of the state.
