Gov Fintiri declares 24-hour curfew in Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, of Adamawa State, has declared a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the state.

The curfew which commenced today (Sunday), was said to have been necessitated by the prevailing security challenges that are currently bedevilling the state.

Making the announcement via a press statement issued to media men in the state on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor said the curfew followed the dangerous dimension the activities of hoodlums had assumed across the state capital.

Hoodlums, as noticed by our state correspondent, have in recent times been attacking people with matches and breaking into business premises and homes carting away property.

Piqued by the development, the declaration of curfew in the state, the governor believed will no doubt stop the hoodlums from such acts.

“With the curfew imposed, there will be no movement throughout the state” Only those on essential duties with valid identification would be permitted to move around during the period of the curfew.”

While appealing to citizens and residents of the state to comply with the directive, any person found contravening the order, he said “would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law”.
