Gombe reaffirms commitment to honor exemplary teachers

Gombe State has reaffirmed its commitment to recognizing and rewarding teachers who exemplify excellence, integrity, and trustworthiness in the course of their duties.

This pledge was made by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Aishatu Maigari, during a commendation event for Mallam Abdullahi Ibrahim, Head Teacher of Fage Primary School in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area.

Ibrahim recently returned a lost sum of N300,000 discovered during a capacity-building workshop for teachers in the area.

In recognition of his commendable act, the commissioner presented him with a letter of commendation on behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, along with an undisclosed financial reward.

She praised him as a role model for both educators and students, especially in a time of economic hardship.

To further honour his integrity, the commissioner directed that a billboard featuring Ibrahim’s image be installed in front of his school as a lasting reminder to students that “honesty is still the best policy.”

She also assured that the ministry will continue to support and professionally reward teachers who demonstrate similar moral standards.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Babaji Babadidi—represented by a board member Dr. Gambo Adamu Aliyu, commended Ibrahim’s moral discipline and urged other teachers across the state to follow his example.

The Education Secretary of Yamaltu Deba Local Education Authority, Usman Abubakar, expressed gratitude to the state government for recognizing Ibrahim’s integrity and dedication to public service.
