The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has asked the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, to stop his diversionary tactics and focus on addressing the failures of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration.
The party stated that instead of addressing the “disastrous performance” of the state government, Aniagwu has resorted to political propaganda.
APC in a statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, reacting to a statement credited to Aniagwu, branding the Delta APC as a coalition of “strange bedfellows,” charged him to address the failures of Oborevwori’s administration, instead of playing to the gallery.
“It is regrettable that instead of addressing the disastrous performance of Governor Oborevwori and his government’s abysmal lack of vision, Mr. Aniagwu has resorted to political propaganda and baseless attacks against the APC.
“However, the facts remain undeniable—under the PDP-led administration, Delta State has received over ₦2 trillion in federal allocations since Oborevwori took office, yet there is nothing tangible to show.
“Infrastructure remains in shambles, the health and education sectors are collapsing, and the unemployment rate is skyrocketing,” the statement said.
The APC added that despite the vast economic potential of the state, the state government has failed to drive internally generated revenue beyond ₦200 billion, a clear indication of inept leadership and economic mismanagement.
“Instead of harnessing the state’s resources for development, the Oborevwori administration has continued in the PDP’s legacy of waste, corruption, and incompetence, leaving Deltans in despair—yet Aniagwu is shamelessly boasting that the governor has improved internally generated revenue to ₦150 billion,” the party stated.

It accused the state government of failing to improve key sectors, such as infrastructure, health, and education, while unemployment continues to rise.
The opposition party further alleged that despite the economic potential of Delta State, the government has struggled to grow internally generated revenue beyond ₦200 billion, contrasting this with states like Lagos. “Instead of harnessing the state’s resources for development, the Oborevwori administration has continued in the PDP’s legacy of waste, corruption, and incompetence,” the statement read.
The party expressed outrage over the government’s handling of ecological funds, claiming that despite receiving over ₦370 million and budgeting ₦799 million for flood control in 2024, only ₦165 million was spent on combating floods, while ₦16 billion was approved for luxury vehicles.
“This pattern of reckless spending and mismanagement is not just irresponsible—it is a gross betrayal of public trust,” the APC stated, questioning the state government’s priorities as floods continue to devastate communities across the state.
The party also pointed to the recent defection of PDP members to the APC as evidence of growing discontent with the state government.
“The exodus of PDP members into the APC is a testament to the growing realization that only the APC can deliver the real change and development Deltans deserve,” it said.
Calling on the state government to focus on governance, instead of “peddling distractions,” the APC reaffirmed its commitment to offering an alternative leadership that prioritizes accountability, economic growth, and infrastructural development.
“The people of Delta State deserve better, and the APC is ready to provide that better future in 2027,” the statement added.
