In an effort to enhance maritime security, a leading water transport company, Abitto Global Services, has donated a patrol boat and other essential equipment to the navy in Calabar.
The gesture is aimed at reinforcing naval operations and bolster security along the waterways of Cross River State.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Abitto Global Services, Mr. Richard Akinaka, maintained that the donation is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and a testament to its commitment to safer waterways.
Akinaka said that the boat is one of their newly designed swamp boats, complete with its engine and other components, as a demonstration of their respect, cooperation, and dedication to ensuring secure water transportation.
He stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders in strengthening maritime security, reaffirming Abitto’s dedication to fostering partnerships that enhance both water transport and economic activities between Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.

Receiving the patrol boat on behalf of the Eastern Naval Command, Commodore Ajomabi Oride, Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Victory, described the donation as a valuable addition to the navy’s operational capabilities.
Commodore Oride, said that navy is entrusted with the critical responsibility of safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests and ensuring the security of the waterways.
He said that NNS Victory was tasked with securing the Calabar Channel and surrounding creeks and given Abitto’s operations in the region, their support through the donation is highly commendable.
The naval boss, urged other businesses operating in the region to follow Abitto’s example in supporting maritime security initiatives.
He underscored the growing importance of public-private partnerships in maritime security and economic development.
Commodore Oride, added that by equipping the navy with enhanced patrol resources, Abitto Global Services is playing a crucial role in safeguarding Nigeria’s waterways.
“It also protects commerce and promote regional stability,” he maintained.
