The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has criticized Israel’s offensive against Iran, which has resulted in heightened tensions between both nations.

A statement released by Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the ministry, on Saturday, June 14, expressed the federal government’s worry over the escalating tensions and called for an immediate halt to the fighting, urging both sides to show great restraint for the sake of regional and global peace.

Bianca emphasized that the ongoing cycle of revenge not only jeopardizes civilian safety, but also risks dragging the entire Middle East into greater disorder, affecting global security and economic progress.

The minister noted that as a nation firmly dedicated to the principles of peaceful coexistence, non-aggression, and cooperative diplomacy, Nigeria urges all parties to favour dialogue rather than conflict.

“We emphasize that military measures cannot replace negotiations.

“The road to sustainable peace is through diplomacy, respect for one another, and compliance with international regulations.

Nigeria is prepared to back all sincere initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and fostering peace in the area,” the statement said.
