FG charges states to initiate youth-friendly empowerment programmes
Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has charged youth commissioners from the 36 states of the country to launch empowerment programmes aimed at the youth in their respective states.

The minister made the appeal in furtherance of the Tinubu administration’s efforts to boost youth participation and progress across the nation.

Olawande said this while receiving the Forum of State Youth Commissioners, headed by its Chairman, Mr. Gold Adedayo, who is also the Youth and Social Development Commissioner for Ekiti State.

A statement released on Sunday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Omolara Esan, mentioned that the meeting took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, where the minister highlighted the significance of local initiatives.

“Having benefited from local programmes myself, I can attest that every initiative I’ve undertaken since becoming minister of state for youth has been backed by non-governmental organisations.

“The efforts you make to change the lives of the youth in your region will serve as evidence of your leadership even after your tenure ends,” the minister said.

Responding, Mr. Adedayo pointed out that the visit was a follow-up to a recent discussion between the minister and the forum in Lagos, where several important action points were established.

He identified three key areas that require the minister’s backing. These are the establishment of a dedicated conference room, support for state engagements and frequent meetings.

“These are fundamental components are necessary for the success of our youth development initiatives nationwide,” Adedayo stressed.
