Ekiti 2022: Kolawole Clinches PDP Gubernatorial Ticket

The immediate past chairman of Ekiti state People Democratic Party (PDP), Bisi Kolawole has emerged as the flagbearer of the party for the June 18 governorship election in the state.

Kolawole, who was declared winner by the chairman, PDP Primary Election Committee for Ekiti, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, polled 671 votes out of the 1185 votes defeating his closest opponent, former governor Segun Oni, who gathered 330 votes.

Udom Emmanuel congratulated other aspirants who jostled for the ticket and enjoined them for team work to win the forthcoming election.

Speaking after his declaration, Bisi Kolawole said his emergence was God will, saying the process of the election was clear and credible.

Eight aspirants jostled for the ticket, including former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s deputy and PDP candidate in the 2018 election, Professor Olusola Eleka, former PDP National Treasurer Wale Aribisala, former governor of the state, Segun Oni, Bisi Kolawole, Kayode Adaramodu, Lateef Ajijola, Mrs Titilayo Owolabi-Akerele and Senator Abiodun Olujimi who withdrew from the race before the commencement of the exercise.

The former chairman of the Ekiti state chapter of PDP, Bisi Kolawole, who won the primary election, was the preferred candidate of the immediate past Governor in the state, Ayo Fayose.
