ECN holds retreat on public sector reforms

The Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) has held a two-day management retreat aimed at promoting public sector reforms and institutional realignment under the ECN Act Amendment Bill.

The goal of the retreat is to enhance energy governance and operational efficiency.

According to the ECN, players in the energy sector must build partnerships based on a shared objective of creating a financial framework that benefits everyone.

Hosted at the BON Hotel Octagon in Abuja, the retreat brought together the leadership of the ECN, including directors and senior management.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, and ECN’s Director General and CEO, Mustapha Abdullahi were also in attendance.

Abdullahi described the retreat as a vital platform for repositioning the ECN, stressing the importance of the amendment bill in aligning with national objectives for digital and climate-smart energy systems.

The minister praised the energy commission’s reform initiatives and urged the commission to take the lead in Nigeria’s energy transition, assuring support from the ministry in line with President Tinubu’s vision and global sustainability goals.

The technical sessions focused on public service reforms, the energy commission’s operational manual, and procurement practices, encouraging participants to suggest strategies to enhance the commission’s influence within the energy sector.
