Deputy Governors of Borno and Yobe States today met in Maiduguri, to deliberate on the modalities for sharing residual assets left unallocated since the creation of Yobe State from the old Borno State over three decades ago.
The high-level meeting, which took place at the conference room of the Borno State Deputy Governor’s Office in Maiduguri, was chaired by Umar Kadafur of Borno State and Idi Gubana, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State.
Both deputy governors also serve as chairmen of their respective states’ boundary committees.

The engagement follows the recent discovery of some remaining assets that were not included in the initial division of properties and liabilities after Yobe was carved out of Borno State 34 years ago.
Deputy Governor Kadafur expressed satisfaction with the continued cordial relationship between the two states and lauded the spirit of cooperation that has characterized discussions.
Deputy Governor Gubana was accompanied by key officials from Yobe State, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Saleh Samanja; Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Abdulkarim Suleiman; Director-General, Bureau on Public Procurement, Alhaji Saimaila Adamu; Managing Director, Yobe Investment Company Limited, Saidu Hamza; and representatives from the Yobe Housing Corporation, Yobe Geographic Information Service (YOGIS), and liaison office in Lagos.
The meeting marks a significant step towards the equitable resolution of outstanding administrative matters between the neighboring states.
